Mallorca is a beautiful island off the coast of Spain and is part of the collection of islands named the Balearics. It is the perfect holiday if you love the beach and sunny skies; Mallorca is scattered with vibrant ports and charismatic seaside towns, which contrast with the mountainous terrain, which is perfect also if you enjoy cycling.
-WHERE TO EXPLORE-
Palma, the capital, is high on the list. It's magnificent Cathedral is a must see. Wander the cobbled streets of its old town, filled with market stalls.
I recommend visiting the old town of Pollenca; there isn't a huge amount to do but there's a square with bars and restaurants and its famous 365 steps to Calvary. This walk isn't too strenuous and a quaint chapel sits at the top, with breathtaking views below, making the effort worth it!
Take the scenic drive to Cap de Formentor for panoramic views of the jagged coastline and to see the lighthouse at the top.
Set in a lush valley of orange and lemon trees, surrounded by a brilliant mountain range, (which is a paradise for cyclists), and reachable by a vintage train from Palma. A cathedral sits in the middle of the quaint, main square; original San Francisco trams transport visitors to the port.

Cala Ratjada is definitely one of the most stunning beaches on the island and is fairly secluded and has not become tacky and touristy.
Mallorca is home to many beautiful beaches and ports, but a few that were particularly worth visiting are Cala Agulla:
Cristo Porto:
Ca'n Pere Antoni:
Aeroplanes could be seen flying over the sea that had taken off from Palma airport.
-WHERE TO STAY-
We stayed a short walk from the port of Alcudia; the walk from our villa was very enjoyable along the golden sand beach. In the port there are a variety of bars and restaurants and many shops for convenience. It boasts fairly exciting nightlife (considering we visited out of season) and I would recommend it as a place to stay if you like to be near the entertainment. The old town of Alcudia is surrounded by city walls and filled with cobbled streets, very authentic and picturesque. The city walls are also free to climb and give a view above the city.
